The European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery has a podcast called “A Cut Above” and in one of their last editions, it was all about perfusion. Specifically the 2024 European Guidelines on Cardiovascular Perfusion and the Consensus Document on Perfusion Qualifications were discussed. These are two landmark publications that deserve the attention of anyone who's involved in cardiac surgery They have both been featured in the TPL in the past.

Really apreciate how this letter cuts through the noise and surfaces the most relevant perfusion research. The piece on renal vein congestion worsening CPB-related injury caught my attention - I've seen cases where managing venous return wasn't prioritized and patients wound up with worse kidney function post-op. Those European guidelines getting podcast coverage is a big deal for bringing standardization to a field that still has alot of regional variation. Keep these curated drops coming, they're genuinely useful for staying current without drowning in alerts.
