Tiny Perfusion Letter
We had to take a break in TPL-ing last week, we just had too much on our plate. That gave us time to look at the responses to our one-question survey in the last TPL. It made us reflect on the why and how of the TPL
Thank you all for reaching out! We are grateful to you
Especially with the majority of you responding with the dopamine-infusing reply that they like it the way it is! Someone even asked for longer intro’s! 🤯 Well, just today then… ;-)
Some people asked for themed TPLs, while others enjoyed the eclectic nature of them. It’s already a sport to get them out, themed might be a bit too hard on our editorial team… Also, it might not look like it, but there is an attempt for chronological order somewhere. The world of publishing is just very eclectic in nature as well…
Archive/repository of the articles? The TPL archive!! Searchable and 24/7 available! (searchable for themes…🔨). Some people asked for a discussion forum? Available on Substack. Every TPL is open for comments/discussion. Feel free to moderate!
Editor’s Pick of the Week… We have tried to provide a “top 10 of the quarter” to AmSECT Today for a while, and the sheer amount of FOMO-induced stress that came with it, still sends a collective shiver of chills down our spines. Nothing in the TPL is copyrighted, so feel free curating that. We are not responsible for any harm or related therapy caused by the attempt…
TPLs in the weekend? More pharmacology? Less unicorns?!? Seriously, people… JK😬!
It’s hard to serve everyone’s needs, but we’re trying to incorporate some super-duper specialized niche subjects in there from time to time (horses/dogs on CPB? yup), but even with the frequency of the TPL as is, we’re still lagging behind… We have a repository of publications to give you 20 TPLs right now… FOMO, anyone?
Lastly, more ECMO/less ECMO. We have been playing for a long while, with the idea to split it and publish a TEL (Tiny ECMO Letter, but we’re open for naming suggestions…). We’re just not sure how to work it out yet. Just know that thanks to a little micro-organism (and a lot of money), there’s now more ECMO-related publications out there than CPB-related. And some perfusionists are just more engaged in ECMO than others. In the end, it’s all about the patient, right? Maybe we’ll ask our audience in a few weeks the simple question: to T-E-L or not to T-E-L?
Audience participation!! Frank Zappa loved it! We love it!
This is a 20 publications TPL, 50/50 CPB/ECMO. And quite some pharmacology… No unicorns 🦄. Duh!!
OK, enough of it, let’s keep going as for now! Thank you for the input!!!!!!

Since I already have a Substack account for different subject matter, I will say this: Keep up the good work Luc. From an Old Retired Hoser.
